The TP-Link Tapo P300 is the first HomeKit-enabled power strip to also include a USB-C charging port. The power strip has only been in stores for a few weeks and is now available for the first time as part of a Black Friday promotion with a significant discount for the special price of 39.90 euros.
In addition to three Schuko sockets, the new smart home plug strip from the TP-Link Tapo product line offers two USB-A charging connections and at least one USB-C slot that provides connected devices with a charging power of 18 watts PD.
The Tapo P300’s USB ports are permanently live, while the three 230-volt outlets can be switched separately via app or Siri. The three outlets support a total power of 2,300 watts or 10 amps. Indicator lights show whether the individual sockets are activated or deactivated. In addition, the power strip can also be switched on or off completely manually with a conventional button.
The connection to the home network and thus also the HomeKit connection takes place via 2.4 GHz WLAN. The socket, which is equipped with a one and a half meter long connection cable, is 268 x 55 x 40 millimeters in size according to the manufacturer and, with a distance of 57 millimeters between the individual Schuko sockets, offers enough space for the use of larger plugs or power packs. Slotted holes on the back should also make it easy to mount the power strip horizontally or vertically on a wall.
