The StarMoney banking app is currently causing problems for at least some users of macOS Ventura. In this context, anyone who remembers the announcement that StarMoney for Mac will be discontinued next year may be fearing the worst. However, at this point we can make everything clear. The developers are still taking care of the app, at least for now, and have promised to fix it soon.
The user-reported issues affect StarMoney in current version 3.15.0 on Mac with current system version macOS 13.0 Ventura. The banking app can no longer be used here, but will say goodbye again immediately after startup.
The StarMoney developers have since confirmed that the bug will be fixed with the next update of their app to version 3.15.1. However, it is not yet clear when this will be the case. We are in active communication with affected users.
StarMoney for Mac successor announced
While we keep our fingers crossed for affected users and hope for a speedy resolution, there’s also a little bit of news regarding StarMoney’s successor to the Mac. When we reported the end of the app in September, the developers were only able to elicit the non-binding statement that they were working on a follow-up product.
The StarMoney team, meanwhile, has gotten a little more specific, promising a new banking app for the Mac later this year. The successor to StarMoney for the Mac should therefore be able to import financial data previously stored from StarMoney without any problems.
StarMoney itself is enjoying a good year of product support and will no longer be supported as of December 31, 2023. According to the developers, the app can still be used indefinitely after that, but it will no longer receive product support or updates.
