Google’s Google One storage plan is available in three different versions. The basic rate offers 100 GB and costs 1.99 euros per month. If you pay 2.99 euros per month, the standard rate includes 200 GB of storage for your Google account and the premium rate includes 2 TB of storage for 9.99 euros per month.
Available as an app since February
The premium rate also includes the use of the “Google One VPN” VPN offer, which Google has been offering with an official iPhone application since February and which, at least in terms of price, makes an offer more attractive than Mozilla’s competition.
With a slight delay, the use of the Google One VPN is now also possible on the Mac. The desktop application required for this is currently available in all supported markets via the premium service website and can now also be used on the MacBook to disguise its own IP address and also encrypt private online communications, especially in unsecured WLAN networks.
IP addresses are not logged
At the launch of the Google One VPN iPhone application, the search engine provider, known for being data-hungry, pointed out in its external communications that the in-house VPN service had been audited by independent experts.
Google One VPN is currently available in the United States and 21 other countries, including Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Google has collected the background and technical details of the VPN solution on this dedicated page under the heading “Everything important about VPN from Google One”. The group also discusses performance here and often states that they can achieve speeds of more than 300 Mbit/s. Google does not want to log IP addresses of users of the VPN service.
