Netflix with advertising not available on Apple TV for the time being ›jojo Reviews

As of today, the Netflix video service can also be officially used at a monthly price of 4.99 euros. Yesterday we informed you about the start of the offer and pointed out that the new “basic subscription with advertising” according to the provider is not available on all devices. As it turns out, Apple TV is one of the small percentages of devices that Netflix says can be used with the more expensive ad-free subscriptions, but not with the new base rate.

Netflix has since set up a support page with the title Netflix message “The basic plan with advertising is not supported”, where further details can be found in this regard. For most devices, rebooting or installing the latest software versions should be enough to get rid of the error. Looking at Apple TV, however, the statement is clear and unequivocal that the basic subscription with advertising is not supported on this device.

Netflix not working on Apple TV

Affected users now have the option to stick with Netflix’s suggestions and either invest more money for a higher quality subscription or use a different device. Alternatively, it probably pays off here if you have a little patience. As the Apple blog 9to5Mac learned from a Netflix spokesperson, support for the cheap rate in the Netflix app should be retrofitted to Apple TV as soon as possible.

Four Netflix options between 5 and 18 euros

Netflix’s current pricing structure now offers four different subscription options. In the cheapest variant “Basic subscription with advertising” for a monthly price of 4.99 euros, with the exception of the option of offline use, you get the same services as the 3 euros more expensive basic rate, but with an average of around four minutes of advertising breaks per counting hour .

In addition, the more expensive Standard and Premium tariff levels, including better image quality, are still available for EUR 12.99 and EUR 17.99 per month respectively.
